Sabrina Zequeira
President Sabrina is a first year PhD student in the Neuroscience department at the University of Florida but is a double gator having earned both her bachelors and masters at UF. Her research focuses on the impacts of cannabis on cognition in older adults using rodent models. In addition to her lab work, she is serving as community outreach chair for the graduate student organization in the college of medicine and enjoys TAing courses in both the psychology and neuroscience departments. Feminist Science Reading Group Coordinator Caroline Huguenin (she/her)
Social media coordinator Caroline holds a bachelor degree in civil engineering from the University of Costa Rica and a Master degree in Hydrology and Water Resources from UNESCO-IHE in the Netherlands. She is currently a Ph.D. Candidate at the University of Florida in the Geography Department and a Fellow at the University of Florida Water Institute. Caroline has worked in various NGOs like The Water Youth Network and Gainesville's Current Problems. Her areas of interest are Hydrology, Remote Sensing, Climate Change Scenarios, and working with Youth on water issues. |
Hayley West
Vice President Hayley is a 4th year undergraduate student studying geology and astronomy and minoring in physics. She is an out-of-stater gator raised in the suburbs of Chicago. She participates in research within the astronomy department for the 3rd year now focusing on theoretical astrophysics of galaxy formation and supermassive blackholes. In addition to astronomy work, she also resides on the Geoclub board as treasurer and has participated in NASA Space Trek Academy as operations director. Hannah Shanker
Treasurer Hannah is a third year Aerospace Engineering undergraduate student at the University of Florida. She is currently working in the ADAMUS Lab on the Drag Deorbit Device (D3). This is her second year being treasurer for WiSE. |
Amanda Sebastian
Spring Camp Coordinator Amanda is a PhD student at the UF College of Veterinary Medicine’s Comparative, Diagnostic, and Population Medicine department where she studies veterinary viruses. She is currently studying a novel nyavirus that was found to be circulating in the common eider duck (Somateria mollissima) during an outbreak of Wellfleet Bay virus in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Amanda received her BS in Microbiology at Virginia Tech with a minor concentration in Humanities, Science, and Technology. In addition to her studies and work with WiSE’s Spring Science Camp, she also enjoys helping out with Gainesville’s St. Francis Pet Care, an organization that provides veterinary services to at-need families with pets in the community. |
